Natural Ink-making Workshop

The natural world around us offers so many beautiful colours and tones! Join Helen Woolston from Studio Kompost for this workshop where you’ll learn how to create water-based inks from foraged berry and plant material, and have a look at different approaches to take depending on the type of material used.
You’ll try a variety of mark-making techniques to test out the possibilities of these colours, and build up a series of colour swatches which can be used for reference for future art projects.

Merlyn Driver is a singer-songwriter and nature-focused musician whose sound draws on folk, as well as other global and contemporary influences. Born in Orkney, an archipelago in the north of Scotland and raised on a smallholding without electricity, Merlyn’s music is shaped by his sometimes unconventional Orkney upbringing, as well as a deep love of nature and many years of intercultural exploration.

Elm exhibition and artist talk: OverwhELM

Artist Chris Goodman’s (AssyntWood) innovative project sculpted art from the Beauly Elm, an iconic 800 year old wych elm tree which stood at Beauly Priory until its fall in 2023.
This has been carved into five sculpture pieces which tell a narrative about our place in nature, our impact on the rest of nature and where we go from here.
See the sculptures and join for an artist talk that examines the themes of restoring natural processes and living as part of nature.

Spoon Carving Workshop

9:30am – 5pm
Come along to Dundreggan to carve your very own spoon with our experienced wood carver, Chris Goodman. This is a great all round introduction to the principles, tools and techniques of green wood working as well as an opportunity to hone your skills and go deeper. The course will involve axing out the rough spoon shape and then refining it with different knives. An immersive experience with the opportunity to explore what wood is as well as how to carve it. Take away your own spoon at the end of the day to use and admire.

Songs for the Wild World is a concert built around the band’s greenest imaginings: bird songs, forest songs, water songs. Furies, dreams and future histories.
Ruby Warblers play thoughtful original songs that swing and pulse with a fiery string band energy. Myshkin’s songs are rooted in folk, rock and a jazz-drenched decade in New Orleans. Jenny Q brings her cello, beats, harmonies, and Arab influence to the mix. The result is both eclectic and electric.

Wand Carving Workshop

This great introduction to carving with Chris Goodman involves learning different techniques using a carving knife to make your very own wand. Carve a hollow spiral handle, add fine details then cast your own spells!

Dundreggan Nocturnal Adventure

6:00pm to 8:30pm
Join professional instructor and filmmaker Will Hall and explore the wonders of the night in one of Scotland’s darkest areas. Away from any light pollution, we will delve into the world of bioluminescence, natural navigation, star gazing and folklore. We’ll take a short walk around beautiful Dundreggan, learning all about the plants and wildlife which call this place home and some of the adaptations they have to survive in the cold dark winters of Scotland.
Sturdy footwear and warm clothes are essential for this fully outdoors event. You’ll leave with a greater appreciation for the nocturnal flora and fauna of the highlands, and know all about the constellations which circle above us.
